John School of Music is a Coimbatore based music school offering structured lessons rooted in Western notation. We welcome learners of different ages and experience levels, with an approach that combines musical understanding, practical technique and the enjoyment of playing.
Our teachers explain concepts clearly, demonstrate techniques and guide learners through practice. Each student brings different interests and goals; our focus is on helping them build a strong foundation and progress with confidence.
Alongside our lessons in Coimbatore, we teach students online, including learners in the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia and the UAE. Live instruction helps students stay connected to a teacher wherever they learn.
Our school provides air conditioned individual classrooms and dedicated spaces for different instruments. Sound treatment helps reduce distractions so students can focus on listening, practising and playing.
Classroom instruments are available for lesson use, subject to the instrument and class requirements. A parents’ waiting area, offsite parking options and CCTV surveillance support the day to day experience at the school.
John School of Music (JSM) reflects the musical journey and teaching commitment of its founder. His approach brings together a strong musical foundation, patient guidance, and a belief in the value of music for personal growth.
Mr. John Nicholas R began his musical journey at the age of ten, when he joined electronic keyboard classes as an extracurricular activity. What began as an early interest grew into a lasting passion for music and teaching.
He received his foundational and intermediate training under the guidance of his mentor, the late Mr. T. Mathanachandran, who helped him develop his skills in electronic keyboard and deepen his understanding of music theory. He holds a Grade 7 qualification in Electronic Keyboard from Trinity College of Music, London.
Alongside his musical training, he completed a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
After working in the IT sector, he moved into music education and began teaching on 1 December 2016. Since December 2019, he has also taught online, reaching aspiring music learners around the world.
With gratitude for the grace of Almighty God, he established John School of Music on 4 December 2022. He continues to lead JSM with perseverance and patience, guiding its commitment to quality music education and the progress of every learner.

Learn from home with live guidance from a JSM teacher. Our online lessons are available for keyboard, piano, guitar, violin and music theory, welcoming children, teenagers, adults and senior learners.
A live lesson gives you the opportunity to play, ask questions and receive feedback. Your teacher can demonstrate techniques, explain notation and guide your practice between sessions.
Choose a quiet, well lit space with a reliable internet connection. Have your instrument, lesson materials and a phone, tablet or computer ready. Position the camera so your teacher can see your hands and instrument clearly; the team will confirm the video platform and setup before your lesson.
If you live outside Coimbatore or overseas, share your location and time zone when you enquire. The team will explain the available class times and help you plan a suitable schedule.
JSM also offers home tuition for learners who prefer individual instruction in their own space. Enquire about instrument options, service areas and teacher availability for your location.
